Great Benefits & Bonuses Of Reading The Quran

Does listening to the Quran count as reading it?

It is not considered the same as physically reading the Quran, listening to its recitation is highly regarded and is believed to bring blessings and rewards.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“Whoever recites one letter of the Quran, it is equivalent to ten good deeds. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter.”

(Tirmidhi)

Although this Hadith emphasizes the rewards of reciting the Quran, it implies that even listening to its recitation carries immense merit. Therefore, while listening to the Quran does not replace the act of physically reading it, it is still considered a virtuous and spiritually enriching practice in Islam.

Is it okay to read the Quran in English

Yes, it is permissible to read the Quran in English or any other language besides Arabic for the purpose of understanding its meaning and teachings.

While the original Arabic text holds the highest reverence in Islamic tradition, reading translations can help non-Arabic speakers comprehend the message of the Quran.

It’s important to note that while reading translations is beneficial, it doesn’t replace the merit of reciting the Quran in its original Arabic form for spiritual rewards.

How much Quran should I read a day

There is no specific amount of Quran that you must read every day as it varies based on

  • individual capacity
  • schedule
  • Commitment

However, it is recommended to establish a consistent habit of Quranic recitation, even if it’s just a few verses or pages each day.

Some scholars suggest aiming to complete at least one Quran every month,

while others encourage reciting less, depending on personal capability.

The key is to maintain regularity and sincerity in your recitation ,

focusing on understanding and reflecting on the meanings rather than rushing through the text.

does listening to Quran count as reading it

Yes to some extent but not whole sole listening cant replace reading ,

listening to the Quran is considered a form of engaging with its teachings and holds rewards.

While it may not be the same as physically reading the text, listening attentively to the recitation carries spiritual benefits and blessings

Additionally, the intention behind listening to the Quran matters;

if one listens with the intention to understand, reflect, and connect with the message,

they will receive rewards similar to those of reading it. Thus, both reading and listening to the Quran are valuable acts of worship and devotion.
